Pastoral Care

We are committed to the wellbeing of every child

We are committed to the wellbeing of every child.  Our pastoral care processes actively identify the wider needs of every child in our school, and our support programmes are in place to fully meet each level of need.  We maintain the highest standard of safeguarding procedures and train all staff every year to ensure we continue to deliver best practice.  Each student has a personal tutor, within their assigned House, who supports them both with their academic and wider development, and with any pastoral or wellbeing concerns. The pastoral team assisting the House Tutor includes the House Guardians, the medical centre and professional counselling services. Students will remain in the same House Tutor group for the duration of their two year programme.

While it is paramount that we monitor and support all students throughout their time at the school, at the same time, the students also take on responsibility for each other and care for each other, both within the houses and in the wider school community, in line with the Charterhouse values of responsibility, perseverance, moral courage, open-mindedness and kindness.  We understand the importance of students gaining experience in dealing with the problems of other people.  Our sense of community, fostered in the houses, is developed further through our independent learning projects, our student leadership opportunities and in our service learning programmes.
